Well, it seems 22 is the standard number of colors for these sprites. Not sure why, but 22 seems to be enough, although there might be some trouble on characters with busier designs (I'm thinking Tiffany in particular would be a pain).

After I scaned in the lineart and shrunk it down, I had a sinking feeling the sprite was going to turn out pooish, but I went ahead and worked through, and somehow the shading saved it. O_o My back hurts.

Wow thats great! Natsu is one of my favorite characters in Rival Schools. I think its a DAMN SHAME none of the Rival School characters in Capcom Fighting Jam...

that would have to be my favourite of your three rival school renditions, i guess i'm just not that big a fan of exaggerated proportions. top notch as usual, i cant think of any relevant critique
